Welcome to the city, puppy!

Last time I brought a puppy home, I was 9 years old. I still remember the insecurity I felt hearing the tiny bell on her collar ringing even as she sat still. She was 45 days old then and she lived to be our crazy, insecure family dog for 17 years.
20 years passed since the day we brought her home in a cardboard box from a shabby pet shop. Now at 29, I recently convinced my husband to get a 4.5 month-old dachshund puppy from a breeder in Italy. We know dachshunds are hard to train but we figured it would be easy to care for a puppy where we live, with so many parks around. And we made a pact that we will not go to place that are not dog-friendly from now on.
Now in a city where there are so many places to eat and hang out but so little taste in music, art and architecture that you get sick of your pickiness, we are facing a challenge to find spots that are friendly not only to dogs but also to people like us.
